WHAT IS MEDICINE AND SCIENCE ( SHORT TOPIC )

biomedical sciences, biomedical research, genetics, and medical technology to diagnose, treat, and prevent injury and disease,  ...

Medicine gives a broader, more contextual view of scientific knowledge, whereas a science degree will give you a more in-depth, detailed perspective

The technological developments along with advances in biological and medical sciences have been a key contributor to the birth of modern medicine. These developments have led to a better understanding of pathophysiology of many common diseases and thus the production of effective drugs by the pharmaceutical industries. Further, the advent of modern technology has revolutionised surgical techniques, therefore lowering the risks of failures and resulting in higher success rates of surgeries. In overall, these improvements have led to increased life expectancy and instate faith in medicine among patients.

Today, Voltaire’s saying, “Doctors pour drugs of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less, into human beings of whom they know nothing” may hold true to some degree, but we have surely come a long way from knowing nothing to possibilities of developing treatments and preventive measures for diseases like cancer and HIV/AIDS. All this has been made possible due to the developments in various fields of science.
